Hello, as the day approaches I feel as I always do around this time. I wasn't with John and 2nd plt, I was with 3rd plt in another compound on the same obj. I remember a lot about that day and many others. I remember walking off post when I first got to savannah. I didn't have a car and I was walking to some fancy bagel place everyone talked about. John must have seen me in the Dco coff and picked me up and gave me a ride to the shop, which he knew of. He had a big heart and embodied the Ranger Creed in more ways than one. I propose 22 burpees on the hour for 22 hours in honor of John. Pass it along.

I would like to take a brief moment to share sanitized information of that Objective I was also part of. I lived everyday with pride knowing I served with this amazing Ranger and roll model. I am not looking for any credit or self gratification because I already received an impact award for my actions. On that day, the enemy sniper was yelling he had hit two Americans. The enemy was happy and yelling allahu akbar as I provided the information to the leadership. That information allowed an A-10 to conduct a gun run on that sniper position killing the sniper that was happy for his actions. I am sharing a little of what I everyday remember and I learned the importance of attention to detail. I am also happy to know I and my team made justice for SGT Penney by killing the sniper and the rest of those terrorist. Rangers Lead The Way! OST-3
