Kelly graduated from Bismarck School in 1979 and went on to join the U.S. Army where he became part of the 1/75th Ranger Battalion stationed at Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah, Georgia.
Ranger Kelly jumped into Granada with the 1/75 during Operation Urgent Fury in OCT 1983, for which he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge.
Kelly Brian Prince, age 54 finished his earthly adventure on Feb.28, 2016 in Cotacachi, Ecuador.
Kelly was born April 19, 1961 to Charline Phillips and the late Larry Prince. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Minnie Carpenter and paternal grandparents, John Mac and Ellen Prince.
He is survived by his wife, Gayla of LaGrange, Georgia; his mother, Charline Phillips of Hot Springs; one son, Zachary of Columbus, Georgia; two sisters, Rhonda Brown and Chana Caylor, both of Hot Springs; 4 brothers-in-law,Vance Bell, Lee Daniel, David Daniel, Darrell Daniel; 2 sisters-in-law, Tanya Norwood, Audrey Daniel, all of LaGrange, Georgia; 10 nephews and 11 nieces.

He excelled at marksmanship with the 90mm recoilless anti-tank rifle, and worked his way up to position of AT Section Leader with the Bravo Company Weapons Platoon.

Kelly loved and lived life and all the adventures it offered. He enjoyed everything from hiking up a volcano mountain, martial arts, a spoon and a half gallon of ice cream and a good home cooked meal! He loved his family and he was their “Big Guy” in every sense of the word. He never pretended to have rhythm but that never stopped him from dancing with his sisters to a stack of old 45’s on the turntable.
Kelly’s infectious laugh could fill a room and draw young and old to his side. Evidenced by hundreds of friends scattered all over the world, he was loved and dear to many.
We celebrate the years we shared with him and in his memory will keep his love of life and adventure alive.
A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.
