Before pursuing his passion for music, Tony Barela served in the U.S. Army Rangers’ 1st Battalion, 75th Infantry for three years beginning at the age of 20, his brother said. A graduate of La Quinta High School in Westminster, Barela took some classes at Santiago Canyon College and dedicated nearly 20 years working for Santa Ana as a maintenance worker, often trimming trees and beautifying the city.

SGT Michael O'Neill

As a Ranger, Sgt. Michael O’Neill distinguished himself as a member of the Army’s premier light infantry unit, traveled to all corners of the world in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

CPL Andrew Chris

CPL Andrew F. Chris from Alabama, served with B Company 3rd Ranger Battalion -

Cpl. Andrew F. Chris was born on Sept. 25, 1977, in Huntsville, Ala. He volunteered for Army service in San Diego, Calif., on Sept. 24, 2001. CPL Chris was killed in action on June 26, 2003 in Bahdad Iraq.

Killed in action in Afghanistan Monday .
Alessandro "Sandrino" Plutino, 28, was in the final weeks of his sixth tour of duty as a U.S. Army Ranger when he was killed by enemy gunfire in Afghanistan while leading his fellow Rangers in an assault.
