Memorial comments from the Fallen Heroes Memorial web site:

"Mac, you are not forgotten! RIP Ranger"
Gregory R Banton, MSG, USA (Ret) of Loveland,CO

"To My Best Friend:
You faught for our fredom and everything we have come to love living in America.
You have been called to a higher Mission by a higher power that we can not understand.
You now watch over us and continue to protect us, silent and Stealthy just like you were trained.
A soldier that never fails his duty, his country, his loved ones, and his friends.
I miss you more and more as the years go by. There is so much I'd love to tell you. First and foremost. Thank You!
I can still hear my phone ring and hear "Hey Man, What's up" when I answer. Just like always even if we hadn't talked for months. Hopefully when it's my time we can have that same conversation and pick up right where we left off just like the old times.
I miss you!
Hey Man! Happy Birthday!"
Robert Kinsch of Genoa City, Wisconsin Land of the Free and Home of the Brave

"What a coincidence"
QI of Out there

"Let me reiterate what was said previously
"It's been six years and still i find myself awake at 2 am silently begging a god I don't believe in to send you back to us. There are still hearts that ache at the loss of a life that didn't deserve to be ended. I just wanted you to know that we continue to remember, even as the messages on this page grow fewer and farther apart."
You will always be in my heart. I love you!!!"

"I've been out of the Army for 9 years and just now came across this news and my heart sank.

MSG Mac came to my platoon as a squad leader shortly before I left the Army. Our time serving together was brief, but I remember him being a very professional soldier, and a stand up guy.

His superiors wanted more NCOs like him, and his subordinates wanted to be like him.

I was not suprised when I heard he made it into the military's premier SOF unit.

Rest in peace, and thank you for your service."
Robert Smith of Denver, CO

"It's been five and a half years and still i find myself awake at 2 am silently begging a god I don't believe in to send you back to us. There are still hearts that ache at the loss of a life that didn't deserve to be ended. I just wanted you to know that we continue to remember, even as the messages on this page grow fewer and farther apart."

"I served with MSG McNulty at B Co 3/327 Inf. He was an outstanding NCO and a great man. God Bless him and his family. Good to see other Bravo Bulldogs on here."
Tim Broderick of Long Island, NY

"MSG McNulty was my first squad leader when i arrived to Fort Campbell in 1996 for Bravo 1st Platoon 3/327. I learned alot from him in the two years he was with us. He motivated me to be a better soldier as well as a better person, which has led me to be the person i am today. I can't thank him enough for that. I just recently learned of his death and my condolences go out to his family and life long friends. Mac and others of the platoon family opened up their homes to many of us single soldiers who always didn't get to go home for the holidays. He was a great man, and i will never forget him. May you rest in peace Sgt Mac."
Michael Hill, B co 3/327 1996-1999 of Houston, Tx

"To the family of Michael McNulty,
I lived next to you in Hawaii at schofield barracks and as I was looking at my dad's page, I decided to leave you a message of my condolence. Today is six years since my dad lost his life and I cannot imagine the pain that your family goes through. My condolences for your loss and I wish you happiness during this time of year. My best to your family."
Nicole (Bridges/Smith) Eppel of Washington

"DAD,
Its been a long time since ive said anything to you. i cant exactly tell you why right now. I love and miss you very much. i am in iraq right now. why i joined the military i dont know. i guess i thought i owed you my life. i am not coming for revenge, but to carry-on what you believed in. i will try to write occasionally. your son,
Eric"
Eric A., McNulty of southern pines, North carolina

"Mike and his dear family,
Wow, I cant believe its been over three years since you passed. I will tell you it doesnt make it any easier. I finally have the courage to read through these without dropping a tear. Reading through all these messages brings back all that you were. YOU were the man and father, the man and father that we all try to be. Its a sad fact that you died on Fathers Day. Kind of ironic though, your kids have grown into such wonderful young adults. They are all so good looking and going the right direction. I cant believe it was so long ago when we were hanging out on the north shore chasing kids off the rocks or keeping them from the undertoe. God, I miss you brother. Wish you were here to see it all going on. I know your watching and guiding all who knew you! I love you Mike and miss you! "See you in a while."

"I knew Master sergeant Mike McNulty from high shool, where we along with his brother, Sean ran cross-country and track at our high school.I remember the day they came to visit after high school was out, and wanted me to join the Rangers with them. That would have been a possibly, if not for my just-borned child, Kimberly,I had recently broken my wrist, and would have that cast on my arm for three months. My regrets are not having spent time over the years with them, and their familys, even though they were moving from base to base throughout the world. One proud moment for me was when I introduced Mike and Paula to one another back in 1986. I had them scheduled to walk down the aisle together, and they were inseparable ever since. This has been a hard struggle for me do deal with-losing a bud.He will always been in my thoughts and prayers- as well as his family. May they overcome this tragedy and make their family strong."
Uncle Tom of Sycamore, Illinois

"Mike was the type of person an American wanted to represent him/her to other nations. He was a kind and decent person who Becky and I miss."
Jeff Biss of Elgin, IL USA

"To the McNulty Family:

It is with deepest regrets and sorrow that I leave this message for your family. I served as Mike's platoon leader, 10 years ago, Bco. 3/327th, at Fort Campbell, and the impression he left on me has sent me to search him out. I am so sorry to learn of this loss to your family and our nation. This memorial is testimonial to Mike's dedication, caring and professionalism. McNulty, Rankin, Coy, Tompkins: I will never forget the tough times and good times! Thank You for everything you taught me."
1Lt. Bryce Maddray of Summerville, SC

"Mike McNulty was one of the bravest men I met. My family met his in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Me and my sister played with his kids all the time. Mr. Mike was always there looking after us to make sure we didn't "get ourselves in trouble". Anytime we got hurt he was there to help us. By coincidence our familes both got stationed in Schofield Barracks, HI and then again moved together to Ft. Bragg. One time me and his son Cyle ran in a road race together and he was there supporting us the whole race and there to congratulate us at the end. Now I congratulate him at the end because he was always there for his family and his country. We love you McNulty's!"
Michael Coy and the Coy Family of Fayetteville, NC

"It's been almost two years and Michael's loss still impacts me greatly. My husband, son and I were there when he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. My childhood friend was buried a hero and left a very devastated family. It was at this point I truly realized the sacrifice our soldiers make for us each and every day. Michael will never be forgotten (both my brother and I wear hero bracelets with his name) and we will continue to support our troops as they defend our freedom."
Dawn of Elgin, IL

"Sgt. Mac was my first squad leader when I arrived at Ft. Campbell, KY 101st ABN DIV, 3/327 Infantry, Bulldogs. I would not have made it without him, he got me in shape, was a natural leader, and motivated me when I was swuckin in the rain or on a hard roadmarch, this man was a great leader and example of the best attributes that are instilled in all service members, I will never forget him."
Josh Dickey of California

"Michael and his family are constantly in my prayers. Thank you, for your sacrifice. May God bring you peace always."
Paul of California

"I was deeply saddened when I learned of Mike's passing. He was a heck of a guy who did all he could to be there for the people around him. He was so his spirit showed in the faces of Paula, the kids, many of the soldiers myself included. There are just too many memories of his vigor, his spirit, and warm personality so he will never be forgotten. Paula, Eric, Kyle, Katie, and Becca wherever you guys are now know that I am deeply sadden with you for the loss of such a great man."
Isaac Hubbard of Ft. Bragg, NC

"To the McNulty family - I was then SGT (E-5)McNulty's 1SG in the 3/327 Inf at Ft Cambell in 1995/1996. He was the best squad leader in the unit. I had recommended him for promotion and awards on several occasions. He was a super NCO, cared for his soldiers and knowing him he died protecting others. I was devasted to see him listed as a casualty. I hope that somehow in his death that peace will comfort all of his family/friends in knowing he was truly a hero and guardian of our nation."
John P. Tompkins 1SG, USA (ret) of Dahlonega, Ga

"Paula and kids,
I just ran across Mike's name on this memorial and was completely shocked. We lived almost next door to you at Schofield and had some really great times. I know we parted with unspeaking terms, but wanted to let you know we thought of you and Mike often.
I lost Steve in December 2003, and share the loss you have suffered.
My prayers are with you and your family."
Debbie Bridges, Dawn, Tim, Nicole and Sarrah of Federal Way, WA

"To The McNulty Family,
Words cannot express the sorrow and sense of loss I experienced when I found out Mike had been killed in Iraq. As his Platoon Sergeant (327 Inf.), years back, I can honestly say he was one of best soldiers and more importantly one of greatest men I had the honor and priveledge to lead. I can only offer my deepest of sympathy and the words that Ranger McNulty may be gone but he most certainly will never be forgotten. For those left to carry on, my thoughts and prayers will always be with you. God Bless..............."
MSG James T. Rankin (ret) of Destin, Florida

"To the McNulty Family,

I had the honor of serving with Mike from 1995 until 1998 in the 101st Airborne. I was lucky enough not only to have Mike as a squad leader, but, as my friend as well. I will always remember your leader/friendship. I will miss you my friend. May God watch over your family."
Chris Slager of Mishawaka, IN.

"I just want to say am very sorry, to the entire McNulty family. I served with Michael with the 3Bn 60INF, AT FT LEWIS,WA. I was very sad to hear of his Death, He was one of the most easy going guys to know. He was my room mate for a short time. R.I.P Mac (Go Devils)"
Anthony Torres of New Rochelle,NY

"To The McNulty Family;
While there will be many of us who live a bit longer than Mike, few will have lived a life filled with as much purpose, love, and adventure that was his life. I served with Mike in the 25th ID in Hawaii at the PRE-RANGER Course- he gave all of himself to everyone he met; always considering the needs of his family and fellow soldiers first. It is no exageration when I say that since his passing I have thought of him every day. To his family and friends I will tell you that although his spirit has crossed to the other side, his legacy continues to inspire all of us who were so very fortunate enough to have known him, even if for just a short while."
MSG Jose G. Denogean of Fort Bragg NC

"To the Mcnulty family,
I would like to send my condolences to your family. I was privilaged to have MSG McNulty as my first squad leader upon my arrival at Fort Campbell. He was a true leader and the best I ever served under. I remember him staying after the company was released to work with me when he didn't have to. He chose to personally ensure that his troops were trained and ready. Everyone in our platoon looked to him for answers to our questions. We all wanted to be the soldier that he was. I only had the opportunity to meet his family once when he threw a platoon party at his house. It was then that I saw that he was a proud father and husband. He will be missed by everyone. God Bless."
James Morrow of Owasso, Oklahoma

"Dear Paula,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mike's passing. The day Vila called me I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Although a lot of time has passed since I last saw you all at Ft. Campbell, I have never forgotten our friendship. Mike was one of the good ones and this world will be left with a deep hole without his love, compassion, and dedication. Please accept my deepest sympathies. My prayers are with you, Cyle, Eric, Katie, and Becca. If you would like to reach me, my e-mail is This email address is being protected from spambots. "Paula,
Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the kids. Though we have not heard from each other since shortly after we parted from Ft. Campbell, I want you to know that we have never forgotten the good times we've had. Mike was an exceptional husband, father, soldier, freind, and neighbor. He will never be forgotten and the love you two shared with each other will stay in our hearts always. Maybe one day our paths will cross again, until then just know that we care and we will continue to pray for you, Cyle, Eric, Katie, and Becca"
With much love, Vila, Ron, David, Aaron, and Daniel of Tucson, Arizona

I have friend that served with you Michael. Dan Langguth is his name. I have always looked to Dan as a hero of mine because of his friendship and from his service to this country.
Every year I call him on Veterans Day to thank him for his service. He sent me this link, and I felt I should drop a note.
I am very sorry for the loss your family has had and I am sorry for the loss that our country has had by your passing. When I thank Dan and all the other veterans I will have you in my thoughts. During the moment of silence at my annual trip to the Indy 500, I will again think of you. God bless you and your family!
Thank you Michael.
